Emergency Response to MOCHA cyclone affected people in Pauk Taw township, Arakan, Myanmar

Extremely Servere Cyclone MOCHA made landfall in Myanmar’s Rakhine state on 14th May packing winds of 250 mph as it approached to the coast, making it one of the strongest cyclones on record t hit the country. (UNOCHA Situation analysis report 25th May 2023.

More than 95% of houses were devastated, and rice, paddy and paddy seeds also got huge damaged. The life of affected people still need to be supported to recovery the situation after MOCHA cyclone. The PIM team have been collecting data of the affected people and areas through the field assessment and PIM local networks after the MOCHA cyclone hit those areas.

(74) rice bags were distributed to (183) total households from Pew Kyae Taung (34 households), Nga Pre Kyun-Ywar Ma (126 households) andNga Pre Kyun-Alay Ywar (23 households) villages, Pauk Taw township, Rakhine on 15th June 2023.

This emergency response is to support urgent needs for those cyclone affected people to mitigate the immediate impacts of MOCHA cyclone.
